Tours are available to discover the territory’s culinary offer, from cheeses to pizza. Famous local products include the “Provolone del Monaco (DOP)”, a hard cheese with hints of sweet and spicy, and the “pizza a metro” invented in Vico Equense by Gigino dell’Amura, whose heirs dedicated the University of Pizza to. Over 25 pizzerias are present in the area, all combining flavour with the art of hospitality thus earning critical and public success for their traditional “pizza vicana”.
The many international awards that are conferred to the town each year further prove Vico Equense’s status as a go-to destination for food lovers.
The prestigious Michelin Guide has awarded its coveted star many times to local restaurants: to Gennaro Esposito’s “La Torre del Saracino”, Peppe Guida’s “Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa”, and to “Maxi” run by chef Graziano Caccioppoli. The gelato shop “La Cremeria Gabriele” was awarded 3 cones in 2020 by the Gambero Rosso guide to Italy’s gelato shops.
Vico Equense’s passion for food is also celebrated in the many “sagre” (festivals) and feasts that are organized throughout the year, attracting thousands of visitors and award-winning chefs. Worth mentioning are the famous “Festa a Vico” and the “Pizza a Vico”, gastronomic events that take place in the town streets and whose proceeds are donated to charity.
